Mixed Foursomes Championships
Sunday 13th July saw our rescheduled Mixed Foursomes Championships completed.
On a glorious day for golf there was 34 brave pairs complete the 27 holes of alternate shot format golf.
With the boys hitting off the odd numbered holes and girls of even numbered, this took away one choice from the pairings.
Foursomes can be a challenging game at the best of times but it can also be very rewarding.
Overall it was no surprise to see our winning couple, siblings Bill & Sophie Eppelstun who had an amazing day out shooting a total of 6 under par for the event, 68 & 34 across the 27 holes. Breaking Par in any event is a great effort but to do it in this format is even harder.
Following Bill and Soph was mother and son duo of Marg & James Dickinson. In the A grade nett division it was Wayne Adam & Nikki Frank from Bruce Dickinson & Viv Thornett.
B Grade saw the husband and wife couple of Rob & Alison Lee take the title by 3 shots from Phil & Lyn O’Toole.
The B Grade Handicap was taken out by Ray & Sue Hartley with Jo Neal & Jasper Schryver finishing Runner Up.
As you can see the diverse arrangements of partners was prominent across the field. The biggest age gap of pairs was 65 years and the youngest competitor was only 12 years old. This again proves that the game of golf is open and accessible to players of all ages, discriminating against no one.
The atmosphere was great all afternoon with most pairs looking forward to backing up again this year, although I am sure there may be a few players looking for a different partner.
